The proceedings can be used on two basic ways.

• Like a Book: Just as there is in most books, the online proceedings has a Table of Contents which lists all the articles available in the proceedings. Each article can be read by clicking on its reference in the Table of Contents. This will load the article in your browser to then be read. Each Article can be printed if you so desire by simply selecting File and Print from your browser's menu after it is displayed. Keep in mind that each of the authors have retained the copyright to their articles, so you can print a copy for your own use, but you can not distributed it to others.

• Like a Database: The proceedings can be used like a searchable database of articles. The online proceedings has a search engine which can be used to search the articles based on key words, and display a list of articles that meets your search criteria.

  Help with Table of Contents

  The Table of Contents consists of a header and a series of links to articles. Each of these is explained below:

  

  Navigation Buttons

  This part of the Table of Contents provides hot links to the Help Page (this help page), the Search Page, and a link back to the Online Planners Forum. Just simply move the mouse over the button you wish to use and left click the mouse. If your Browser supports JavaScript, as you move your mouse over the button, it lights up. Cool! If it does not light up, you can still click to go to the page referenced, you just miss out on the cool buttons. To bad!

  Table of Contents Topic Bar

  The Table of Contents list the articles by Topic. Each of these blue bars list a different topic. Pretty simple huh.

  Article References

  Each of the articles has a hotlink reference to the article page. Each line included the article title and the author(s).

  Some articles are proceeded by a yellow star . These articles were not included in the original printed version of the 1998 Proceedings, but have been included in the online version.

  Some articles are proceeded by a red star . These articles were in the original proceedings but have not yet been included in the online version. In some cases, the article required extensive conversion to HTML (formatting or graphics) and that is not yet complete. In some cases we have not yet obtained an electronic version of the article.

  Help with Article Pages

  Each Article consists of an article header and an article body. Each of these are explained in detail below.

  Article Header

  

  Article Title and Author Name

  This section of the article header includes the title of the article and the name of the author(s). If the article is being reprinted with permission, a hot link to the reprint permission notice is included with article title is is noted with a "*".

  Author Information

  This is a hot link to information about the author(s). At a minimum this includes their title and their company or organization. This also sometimes included a way to contact the author, more information about the organization, or a way to obtain article reprints.

  Navigation Buttons

  This part of the article header provides hot links to the Table of Contents, this help page, the Search Page, and a link back to the Online Planners Forum.   Body of Article

  The actual article will consist of three basic parts in this order, an Abstract, the Article, and Footnotes and References. The Heading structure of an article may vary, but most follow the following header hierarchy

  Topics
  A Quote

  Where provided by the author graphics and tables are included. In some articles, the resolution of the graphics needed to be so high to actually see the graphic, that the graphic was not included in the article body. In such cases, a smaller graphic icon is included, which you can click on to load the full size graphic.

  Help with Copyright and Printing Articles

  What is the copyright on the Proceedings?

  Each author has retained the copyright to their articles. Each author has granted APA and ASU the right to publish their article in these online proceedings. The form, design, and structure of the proceedings has been copyrighted by ASU.

  Can I print out articles?

  Each author has retained the copyright to their articles. Under this copyright you can print out an article, or save a copy of an article on disk, for your own personal use or convenience. However you can not print out or save an electronic copy of an article for distribution with out the author's consent. For example you can NOT print out a copy for distribution in the office or to a class. If you choose to utilize portions of a document in another document, please utilize proper citation of the original author and copyright.

  Linking to the Proceedings

  Can I create a link on my page directly to one of the articles?

  You can inlcude a link on your web page to an article as long as the article is NOT displayed within a frame from your site. Framing any page of the Proceedings is a violation of ASU's and the author's copyright. It would be nice if you would provide some credit to the author for writing and providing the article and ASU for providing the article in electronic form.

  Can I create a link on my page to the proceedings?

  YES!!! You can inlcude a link on your web page to the proceedings as long as the link is NOT displayed within a frame from your site. Framing any page of the Proceedings is a violation of ASU's and the author's copyright. It would be nice if you would provide some credit to ASU for providing them in electronic form (yes more blatent promotion). You can utilize the following html if you wish.

  This graphic is a small 3k gif file so should load fast and add very little overhead to your site (about 1 seconds load time over a 28K modem line or 2 sencond over a 14K line). If you like, you have our permission to make a copy the logo on your server for purposes of creating a link to the proceedings.
