Help With Searching

How do I search the proceedings?

If your browser supports frames and JavaScript, then you can search the proceedings by author and keyword. Jump to the search page, select the type of search you want (author or keyword) and click on the search button. Search results will be listed in the lower half of the window. The listing will consists of links to the articles found. For non-frame and JavaScript browsers, there is a keyword index page and an author index page. These pages have links organized by author and keyword.

Can I do multiple searches?

Yes. Just select another keyword or author and press the search button. New search listings will be displayed. You navigate among multiple searches using the back and forward buttons on your browser.

Can I save my search results for future reference?

Yes. Just use the File/Save menu option. Save the frame to a file with an .html or .htm extension. Later you can load this file using the File/Open menu option on your browser and link to the articles listed.

Some of the lsitings have a red star . what does this mean?

We did not recieve a copyright release from all of the authors who submitted articles for the printed version of the proceedings. Articles marked with a red star are articles that were published in the printed version of the proceedings, but will not be available online until we receive a copyright release. (see Why Not Online below)

Why are not all of the articles in the original paper version of the proceedings not online?

When compiling the original proceedings, each author retained the copyright to their work, and signed a release allowing APA to publish their work in a proceedings. Though ASU's copy right attorneys felt this release covered electronic publication, and APA could assign ASU as their agent for publication, APA staff did not agree. APA staff inidcated that in their opinion these releases did not cover electronic publication and therefore APA could not assign ASU as their agent for electronic publication. Unfortunately this meant that with out a new copyright release from the author, the Herberger Center could not legally publish these papers. The Herberger Center then proceeded to obtain new copyright releases from each of the authors to would allow ASU to publish the proceedings electronically. However, not all of the authors have responded to this request yet. The papers currently online are the papers for which we have received a copyright release. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We continue to receive these releases, and as we do, we will post each article and provide a new "Updated" date on the home page.

Is there and anotated contents?

Not currently. If we get enough requests for one, we will produce one.

Help with Copyright and Linking to the Proceedings

Can I print out articles?

Each author has retained the copyright to their articles. Under this copyright you can print out an article, or save a copy of an article on disk, for your own personal use or convenience. However you can not print out or save an electronic copy of an article for distribution with out the authors consent. For example you can not print out a copy for distribution in the office or to a class. If you wish to contact the authors for such permission, we can provide you the address from which we received their release. If you choose to utilize portions of a document in another document, please utilize proper citation of the original author and copyright.

Can I create a link on my page directly to one of the articles?

You can inlcude a link on your web page to an article as long as the article is NOT displayed within a frame from your site. It would be nice if you would provide some credit to ASU for providing the article in electronic form.
