Abstract

Census 2000 data are nearly all released and, increasingly, planners are turning to using census and related data to update General Plans.  This presentation raises several concerns and specific cautions related to using census data.  The most important caution is based on using 1990-2000 unadjusted census data to set projected population increase as a basis for plan updates.  Three innovative Census 2000 data planning applications are named that the author is developing for various clients.
