On behalf of the entire AICP Commission, it is with great pleasure that we provide the 2000 APA National Conference Proceedings. This marks the fourth year that AICP has published the Proceedings and the second year on CD-ROM. The growth and popularity of the APA National Conference has resulted in over 4,000 copies of these Proceedings distributed to all full-paid conference attendees. Just as important, additional copies are made available to those who were unable to attend the APA Conference in New York but are interested in the activities of APA and AICP.
This Proceedings CD-ROM is the result of the hard work of the Multi-Media Task Force, Co-Chaired this past year by Karen Fernandez, AICP in Louisiana and Steve Preston, AICP in California. This Task Force strives to employ the latest technology to providing high quality, affordable professional development opportunities for our AICP members. Just this year, the Task Force will implement the electronic version of the AICP Membership Roster, guide the redesign of the APA web site at www.planning.org, and publish a new book by Carol Barrett on Ethics and Professional Conduct. I also would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the Task Force is seeking new and innovative planning case studies for consideration in our quarterly publication "AICP Planners Casebook." If you are interested, please contact the AICP staff in Washington at (202) 872-0611 or e-mail to AICP@planning.org.
Our thanks go to the editor of the Proceedings CD-ROM, Bill Kasson and Mary Kihl, the Director of the Herberger Center at the Arizona State University. I would also like to recognize the substantial efforts of Ray Quay, AICP, Assistant Director of Planning in Phoenix, Arizona who volunteered his assistance in the editing and programming of the CD-ROM. Finally, thanks go to our staff, especially to Glenn Coyne, AICP, the Director of AICP in Washington for coordinating the production of the Proceedings.
Finally, AICP owes a debt of gratitude to ESRI in Redlands, California. Without the financial support and generosity of ESRI, the production and distribution of the Proceedings would not be possible.
Sincerely,
Norman Krumholz, AICP
